- PedDrugDose continues to gain new users, both in the United States
and world-wide. This month, PedDrugDose now has users (of either
of the versions) in over 100 US cities and 8 other countries. To
see the list of cities and countries, click here.
As the use of PedDrugDose and
similar programs increases, we can only hope to see a reduction in the
enormous number of pediatric dosing errors which are so
commonplace. As cited elsewhere on this site, Dr. Timothy Ferris,
MD, MPH, Associate professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at Johns
Hopkins extrapolated the available data on pediatric dosing errors
during his slide show presentation [Text] [PowerPoint] at the 2008 AHRQ
Conference. Here, it was estimated that there could be over
4,000,000 pediatric dosing errors per year in this country alone.
PedDrugDose can help you to ensure that your patients are not among
those unfortunate statistics and it saves you time as well.
Please note that Dr. Ferris is not
affiliated in any way with this site or with PedDrugDose and to my
knowledge doesn't even know that I, PedDrugDose or this website
exist. Accordingly, no endorsement is implied and none should be
inferred. I mention him and his presentation as it seems to be
the most convincing and concise summary of the problem.
